What are Somatics?

The word Soma means ‘body.’ Somatics is a field of movement and body awareness practices that help you connect with your physical sensations, regulate your nervous system and develop a deeper understanding of how you relate and experience the world.

Somatic practices are often used in healing, performance and personal growth to release tension, build confidence and cultivate presence.

They are designed to focus on your internal perception, helping you develop awareness of how your body responds to emotions, stress and past experiences. Techniques often include:

  • Breath work – regulating the nervous system through conscious breathing

  • Movement – exploring how the body holds tension and how to release it

  • Self-inquiry – bringing attention to sensation and emotional patterns

  • Mind-body integration – reconnecting with natural movement and expression
